According to the cascade system (Veterinary Medicinal Products Regulation (EU) 2019/6 art. 112, 113, 114)*, under certain conditions, you are authorized to switch to another registered veterinary medicinal product in the member state or another EEA member state. If this is not available, you can opt for a human product registered in the member state or another EEA member state.
However, these medicinal products are not always (immediately) available. In that case, the required veterinary medicinal product can be dispensed through magistral preparation. This requires veterinary necessity and a prescription. At least the following additional information is required:

- Active substance and concentration
- Name and address of the veterinarian concerned
